Caroma toilet seats, find the one that fits your pan

The tricky bit with a Caroma replacement toilet seat isn't the brand. It's the pan. Caroma has run dozens of toilet lines over the decades, and a Caroma Trident toilet seat won't sit right on a Caroma Caravelle toilet seat. Shape, fixing pattern and hinge type all vary between models. Getting the right Caroma toilet seat means matching the pan first.

We stock genuine Caroma replacement toilet seats across the current lineup, including the Caroma Trident toilet seat, Caroma Caravelle toilet seat, Caroma Luna toilet seat, Caroma Stylus toilet seat, Cube and Uniset, in Caroma soft close toilet seat and standard versions. If you already know your model, jump to the table below and match it. If you're not sure what you've got, we'll show you where to look for the model name and how to identify the seat shape by sight. Either way, you'll leave this page knowing which Caroma toilet seat to order.

Find your Caroma model

Most Caroma toilet seat models have the model name badged on the pan behind the seat near the hinges, or moulded into the porcelain under the cistern lid. If it's worn off, match by seat shape and fixing spacing instead. Whether it's a Caroma Trident toilet seat, Caroma Caravelle toilet seat, Caroma Luna toilet seat or Caroma Stylus toilet seat, the badge or moulding will confirm it.

Caroma model Seat shape Soft-close available Notes
Trident D-shape Yes Long-running family, quick-release hinges on newer versions
Caravelle D-shape Yes Common in rentals and older homes, check fixing spacing
Luna Square/soft square Yes Distinctive squared front edge
Stylus D-shape Yes Slimline profile, top-fix hinges standard
Cube Square Yes Fully squared, wrap-over seat
Uniset D-shape Standard mainly Older commercial and residential fitouts

Still ordering the pan itself? Have a look at our Caroma toilets range so the seat and pan match from day one.

Soft-close vs standard, which one you actually need

A Caroma soft close toilet seat has a damped hinge. Lift the lid, let go, and it lowers itself quietly instead of slamming. That's the whole trick. Handy if you've got kids, a shared bathroom, or you're up at 3am and don't want to wake the household.

Standard hinges are cheaper and there's less to go wrong long-term. If the seat's for a rental or a low-use ensuite, standard does the job.

Most current Caroma seats also come with quick-release hinges. Press the button, lift the seat clean off, wipe the pan properly, click it back on. Sounds small. Once you've cleaned a toilet without one, you'll never go back.

How to measure and fit your Caroma seat

Three measurements sort it out.

1. Fixing point centres. The distance between the two hinge holes on top of the pan. Most Caroma pans sit around 155mm, but check yours.

2. Seat length. From the front of the fixing holes to the front tip of where the seat will sit. Usually 440-470mm on a standard pan.

3. Pan width. The widest point of the bowl, so the seat doesn't overhang.

Modern Caroma seats use top-fix hinges. The bolts drop in from above and tighten with a wingnut underneath. Older pans sometimes have bottom-fix, where you need access under the rim. Our full toilet dimensions guide is worth a read if you're replacing the whole setup.

What if you've got an old Caroma toilet seat or Fowler toilet seats?

Fowler toilet seats are a common source of confusion, since Fowler was absorbed into Caroma decades ago, so a lot of "Fowler" seats now take a Caroma replacement toilet seat instead. If you're matching an old Caroma toilet seat from a Fowler-era suite, check the pan shape against one of the current models (usually Caravelle or Trident on older suites) and the current seat will fit. If the fixing spacing is unusual, a universal-fit seat with adjustable hinges is the safer call. Need cistern parts too? Our Caroma toilet parts page covers inlet valves, buttons and flush mechanisms for the same models.

FAQs

Check behind the seat hinges for a badge, or under the cistern lid for a model name moulded into the porcelain. If it's gone, match by seat shape (D-shape vs square) and measure the fixing hole spacing.

Not reliably. A Luna seat won't fit a Trident, and vice versa. Shape and fixing pattern differ. Match to the specific model.

A hinge that lets you unclip the seat from the pan for cleaning. Press the button, lift off, click back on. Standard on most current Caroma seats.

Usually yes, if the fixing spacing matches. Older pans with unusual spacing may need a universal-fit Caroma soft close toilet seat instead.
